Our Story

Welcome to BridgeWay!

Our story began a little over a decade ago when BridgeWay Community Church held its first public worship service in September 2010. We were founded by a group of families who were passionate about preserving and living out biblical Christianity, while also sharing the gospel story of Christ in ways that would be understandable in our culture.

We are a growing family of disciples dedicated to sharing the love of Christ through authentic relationships to reach Southern Maryland.

We hope you’ll take a few minutes to skim through our website and YouTube channel.

BridgeWay FAQ

Our worship style is contemporary mixed with classic hymns. We usually sing 4-5 songs at the start of each service, interspersed with times of confession and prayer as we prepare our hearts for time in God’s word.

Pastor Bear brings us relevant, Bible-based teachings that are designed to help us grow in Christlikeness, Fruitfulness, and Knowledge. From encouraging us to look deeper at the Bible passages we read, to challenging our ideas on culture and Christianity, there’s always something to think about when the sermon is over.

Our service starts at 09:45 AM, and it typically ends around 11:15 AM.

Definitely! You’ll likely notice when you visit us that there is no shortage of children! In fact, children make up about half of our attendants. What do we do with all those children, you ask?  Well, we have an awesome, background checked children’s ministry team who, after worship, welcome the children (infant-5th grade) into BridgeKids each week. Our desire is to help each child KNOW, LOVE and FOLLOW Jesus.

Wear whatever you’re most comfortable in. No tie required! (But if you’re feeling fancy, we like that too!)

We end each service with a time of communion where we share the bread and juice that represent Jesus’ sacrifice and his coming again. We invite you to participate if you feel comfortable. Communion cups are available at the Connect Center when you enter the building.
